How it works
Fatty acids are absolutely crucial to skin health. As one of the main components in the skin’s moisture barrier, fatty acids are found throughout the epidermis and dermis.
Essential fatty acids, like omega-3 (alpha-linolenic) and omega-6 (linoleic), have a wide range of beneficial effects to the skin. They can mitigate UV damage, reduce the signs of aging, decrease sensitivity, and increase overall skin health. They can also lighten sun spots and other UV-induced hyperpigmentation. Borage seed oil, perilla seed oil, and cranberry seed oil contain 60-75% linoleic/alpha-linolenic acids each, giving Fortify its omega 3 and 6 components.
Oleic acid (omega-9) is a powerful moisturizer and skin-softener. Most of Fortify’s oleic acid comes from Camellia japonica oil, which has been shown to increase skin health and potentially reduce the signs of aging; it also has significant anti-inflammatory effects. Fortify’s other major source of oleic acid, marula oil, possesses strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers.
Is it right for me?
Fortify is a medium-weight oil that's minimally greasy and especially great for those with dry, combo, dehydrated, or sensitive skin. Pat a few drops into your skin before or instead of your usual moisturizer. Or, to give your normal routine a fatty acid boost, mix a couple drops into your serum, lotion, or foundation.
All Stratia products are free of common irritants like fragrance, alcohol, and essential oils.
- Liquid Gold
I use this predominantly at night in conjunction with liquid gold, more so in the cooler months when I need a bit more oomph to my night moisturising routine. I also use it when my rosacea-prone skin is feeling a little "angry". I have used a marula oil and another very popular face oil available in Australia and while both have worked in this role I find them very easy to over-do causing little breakouts. I never break out with this product. I don't love the smell either and I prefer a little dropper system to this style of packaging, but the performance can't be faulted.
I was intrigued by the ingredient assortment in Fortify and haven't had any negative reactions to using the face oil. However, for the cost and amount you get, I don't know that I'll be repurchasing. It's a fairly viscous oil, so feels like it takes more than just a couple drops to get coverage on my entire face and I'm not confident it will last long enough to be worth it. (As sidenote, though, I think the smell is nice.)
This is an amazing oil! It’s not too light not too heavy, just right. And the reviews saying is smells? It really doesn’t smell bad it reminds me of maple, it just smells like maple. Amazing ingredients and amazing performance! 10/10
This is by far the best oil I’ve used, and it’s always a repurchase. Lightweight but moisturising, and is a must have for winters!
Smells a little weird mixed with other products sometimes which puts me off but I enjoy using it
