Ingredient Spotlight: N-Acetyl Glucosamine

N-Acetyl Glucosamine

So you may have heard that our beloved Rewind serum is now vegan, but what does that mean for you?

First off, this wasn’t a reformulation! All the ingredients are the same + in the same amount, we simply found a new source for N-Acetyl Glucosamine, or NAG. This one change means that Rewind is now completely vegan. The old source for NAG was derived from seashells. We were able to find a chemically-identical replacement for this ingredient made from corn. We even had it tested at a third-party lab to ensure the ingredient is chemically the same.

Since this is merely a new source for NAG, there are absolutely no changes to the Rewind formula. The color, texture, and effectiveness are all exactly the same. Rewind remains a lightweight, vitamin-rich serum packed with Niacinamide, DMAE, and hyaluronic acid that firms, hydrates, and fades dark spots.

This change means that with one exception, the entire Stratia line is vegan. The only non-vegan Stratia product is Lipid Gold, which contains cholesterol sourced from lanolin, the oil on sheep’s wool. The sheep, based in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, are ethically sheared and the wool is then treated to remove the lanolin. At this point, we haven’t been able to source high-quality vegan cholesterol, but we’re always looking for new alternatives that won’t impact the efficacy of the formulation.

There is one additional perk to the new N-Acetyl Glucosamine: its manufacturing process produces 98% less waste compared to seashell-sourced NAG.
